Animal User Training

All animal users must complete training as outlined in the IACUC approved training plan, starting with completion of the CITI Program Online Training Modules. Upon completion of online training, submit completion reports to the IACUC Coordinator and schedule subsequent orientation training with the Attending Veterinarian. Any work with animals is prohibited until verification of completion of basic training is received.

Online Training Modules to complete:

  • “Working with the IACUC Course” - mandatory for all animal users
  • “Working with Non-Human Primate in Research Settings” - mandatory if working with non-human primates

Orientation Training Topics covered by the Attending Veterinarian:

  • Relevant SOPs for working within the vivarium
  • Occupational Health and Safety topics
  • Review of NYU Shanghai Animal Care and Use Program
  • Process for reporting animal welfare concerns

Technical training (available upon request):

  • General animal husbandry process
  • Wet lab for handling and restraint of nonhuman primates
  • Aseptic surgical techniques
