NYU Shanghai Research Compliance Office is responsible for the protection of the rights and welfare of human subjects in research projects conducted by NYU Shanghai faculty, staff and students. At NYU Shanghai, all research involving human subjects (funded or unfunded) must be reviewed and approved by the NYU Shanghai University's Institutional Review Board (IRB) prior to being conducted.
The NYU Shanghai IRB has been given the authority to review and approve research involving human subjects through an agreement (Federal Wide Assurance) with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office for Human Research Protections.
NYU Shanghai’s Federalwide Assurance (FWA) number is FWA00022531. The current expiration date is 10/1/2025.
