NYU Shanghai Postdoctoral Fellows Selected for New York Residency Program

Two NYU Shanghai postdoctoral fellows, Akshima and Lucien Monson, have been selected for a three-week research residency program at NYU’s New York campus.

Akshima currently serves as a Postdoctoral Fellow of Computer Science at NYU Shanghai, where she works with Assistant Professor of Computer Science Guo Siyao. Her research interests span cryptography and related areas of security and theoretical computer science. During her residency, she will focus on her research, on the “Time-Space Tradeoffs for Cryptographic Primitives.”

Lucien Monson, a Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow for Global Perspectives on Society (GPS), specializes in the comparative history of philosophy. His research delves into both European and Chinese philosophical traditions, exploring the fundamental question of what it means to be human. During his time in New York, he will concentrate on his research on “Beauty, Nobility, and Desire: A Comparative Study of Ren and Kalokagathia in Confucius and Plato.”

The NYU Shanghai Postdoc Summer Program in New York aims to support the advancement of current research by leveraging resources available at NYU campuses, fostering research collaborations, and providing professional development opportunities. Additionally, it facilitates networking with postdocs and colleagues across NYU's global network.
