NYU Shanghai’s Associate Professor of Economics Steven Lehrer was elected to a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) this September.
Professor Lehrer was appointed to the economics of education group under the NBER. He has recently completed a number of projects that explore the impact of the heterogeneity in child care policy on children’s developmental and behavioral outcomes. His general research interests are spread across the fields of the economics of education, health economics and experimental economics. Prof. Lehrer is an affiliated member of the Center for Data Science and Analytics and the NYU-ECNU Institute of Brain and Cognitive Science at NYU Shanghai. He is a recipient of Shanghai municipal government's Thousand Talents program.
Excited about this new affiliation, Professor Lehrer commented that “the NBER organizes phenomenal conferences, holds an annual summer institute and is a major gathering ground for many leaders in the discipline. These face- to-face interactions provide much energy that sparks my research program and hopefully generate spillovers for others at NYU Shanghai.”
