Dr. Ni is a Junior Research Professor at the State Key Laboratory of Precision Spectroscopy at East China Normal University. His research interests are mainly related to ultrafast and strong-field processes in atoms, molecules, and solids induced, observed, and controlled by ultrashort intense laser pulses. Electric field strengths of such laser pulses can have the same order as the Coulomb fields within an atom or molecule while the pulse durations can be as short as a few femtoseconds or even attoseconds, which have the same time scale as the electronic dynamics in the system. Laser frequencies range from the far-infrared through the optical to the soft X-ray region. His research work usually employs numerical simulations of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation and theoretical investigations using strong-field approximation.
