About:

To support the strategic development of NSFC, including strategic consulting, research on funding policies and grants management, and analyses of priority development areas and key scientific questions, the NSFC Bureau of Planning Specialized Project (scholarly activities) is open for applications.

 

Areas:

  1. Research on the Impact of Scientific Fund Support on the Career Development of PhD Students and Postdoctoral Researchers in China
  2. Research on the Role of Scientific Funds in Fostering a Diversified Funding System for Basic Research in China
  3. Research on Measures by Scientific Funds to Support the Recruitment of High-Level International Scientific and Technological Talent in China
  4. Research on Enhancing the International Influence and Organizational Effectiveness of Academic Conferences in China
  5. Research on the Scientific Rationale of High-Risk, High-Reward (Non-Consensus) Projects and the Optimization of Their Funding and Management Mechanisms
  6. Research on the Challenges and Strategies for Promoting Interdisciplinary Integration Between Medicine and Other Disciplines
  7. Research on Strategies for the Integration, Sharing, and Utilization of Scientific Fund Data Resources in the AI Era
  8. Research on Capacity Building for the Independent Development of Scientific Research Instruments and Corresponding Scientific Fund Support Strategies
  9. Research on Improving Whole-of-Lifecycle Management Efficiency and Reducing Administrative Burden in Scientific Fund Projects

 

Period: January 1, 2027 – December 31, 2028

 

Funding: up to RMB 300,000 per project

 

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must hold a senior professional technical position (title)
  • This program is exempt from the total limit on concurrent applications and active projects
  • An applicant may only submit one application per year for this program
  • Applicants who is leading an ongoing Bureau of Planning Specialized project cannot apply
