About:
The 2026 Shuguang Plan is now open for application. This prestigious program is open to young scholars with strong academic potential. Please refer to the official announcement attached for more details.
Funding Amount and Period:
The funding amount is RMB 170,000 for natural science projects and RMB 70,000 for social sciences and humanities projects, both with a funding period of two years.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicants should be under the age of 40 (born later than Jan 1, 1986).
- Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree, and a senior professor title (i.e. Tenure-track Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor).
This program is quota-based, and an internal review and selection process will be arranged if necessary. If you are interested to apply, please let us know by July 14, 2026. See the important Dates listed in below for details.
Application Procedure:
- Applicants should fill out the application proposals using the template provided by SMEC (see attached).
- Applicants who enter the second round need to participate in an onsite review panel meeting. This meeting is tentatively scheduled for mid-October this year.
