About:
The International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), established in 1972, is an international research organization dedicated to addressing complex, interdisciplinary challenges that require global cooperation—such as energy, water, food security, climate change, and population growth—through systems analysis and modeling.
As the national member organization of the IIASA, NSFC supports collaborative exchanges between Chinese and IIASA researchers. Through funding academic conference projects, NSFC aims to help researchers establish collaborative relationships and lay the groundwork for subsequent substantive joint research activities.
Funding Area:
Systems Analysis and Sustainable Development
Funding Amount:
Up to RMB 150,000/project, support up to 2 projects.
Funding Scope:
- Conference-related expenses incurred in China, including venue and meeting costs, as well as participants’ accommodation, meals, and intercity transportation expenses.
- Priority will be given to academic conferences whose primary participants are researchers who have participated in the IIASA Young Scientists Summer Program (YSSP).
Period:
From Oct. 1, 2026 to Dec. 31, 2027. The conference should last no more than 3 days.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Application should hold a senior professional title
- Applicant from the Chinese side must be a PI or a major participant in an ongoing NSFC project that has a close date on or after Dec. 31, 2026, and with a duration of at least three years.
- Applicant should have a strong collaboration with IIASA.
- This program does NOT count towards the “two-project” limit.
