About:                                                                                               

National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and The National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) will continue to jointly fund cooperative exchange projects in 2026.

Funding Directions:

In 2026, funding will be provided in three areas:

• Ecosystem stability and function enhancement under environmental challenges
• Soil ecological restoration and sustainable development
• Aquatic ecosystems under environmental challenges

The first Application Code must be selected under B06, C03, D01, D03, D05, D06, D07, E10, G04, and it is recommended to choose the most specific code available (the four-digit code).

Funding Scale and Period:

• About 5 projects will be funded. For each project, NSFC will provide up to RMB 150,000 per project, while CONICET will provide its Argentine partners with approximately USD 15,000 per project.
• The funding period is two years, from January 1, 2027, to December 31, 2028.

Eligibility:

• The applicants in China side must be currently undertaking (as principal investigator or participant) a NSFC project (excluding collaborative exchange projects) with a duration of 3 years or more, and the application must be based on this project.
• The collaborating party in Argentina should meet CONICET's eligibility requirements for its own country's applicants and submit its application to CONICET as required.
• Project applications submitted unilaterally will not be accepted.
• The number of partners within China shall not exceed two.
• This project is not included in the total number of applications and projects undertaken, and is not subject to the restriction that "an applicant can only apply for one project of the same type in the same year".
• The applicant may apply for and be the project leader for only one collaborative exchange project under the same inter-organizational agreement framework, and the applicant may also be the project leader for a project that is currently underway.
