About:
The 2024 Shanghai Pujiang Talents Program is now open for application. This program is designed for Chinese scholars who have studied abroad or in Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan and now returned to Shanghai to work (including those who joined other nationalities during the study). For more details, please refer to the official announcement in Chinese.

Project Type:

• Type A Scientific Research and Development:
• Applicants should conduct in natural sciences and/or technology research.
• Project Term: from 12/01/2024 to 11/30/2026
• Funding Amount: RMB 300,000 per project
   
• Type C Social Sciences
• Applicants should conduct in innovative research in the humanities and social sciences.
• Project Term: from 12/01/2024 to 11/30/2027
• Funding Amount: RMB 150,000 per person

Eligibility:

• The applicant should refer to the “Pujiang Talents Plan Operation Guideline” for the details of general eligibility.
• Any research content that is already sponsored by other government funding cannot be used to apply for this plan.
• Applicants are under the age of 45 (born on or after January 1, 1979). Once funded, the applicant should work full-time in China (no less than 9 months per year). The number of applicants for team projects should be no less than 3, and all members should meet the application requirements.
• For the Type A, applicants should hold a PhD degree AND continuous study or training abroad for 2 years or more; For the Type C, applicants should hold a PhD degree or a master degree with a senior professional title or an intermediate professional title in art area AND continuous study or training abroad for 1 year or more.
• The applicants who have returned to Shanghai to work and conduct innovative research enter the country after January 1, 2021. The applicants and teams who have not yet entered the country, but have reached a clear employment intention with the employer in this city, or have reached a landing intention with the relevant entrepreneurial parks, may also declare according to the relevant regulations. The entry and exit records shall prevail for continuous study or further study abroad, as well as the time of entering the country for work and starting a business.

Application:

1. Applicants need to complete an online “Qualification Verification” before starting an application. The time window for conducting this verification is from 08/05/2024 to 09/08/2024. Detailed procedure can be found in the Attachment.
2. All applications should be submitted online. Applicants can enter the application page through “上海国际人才网”—人才计划一站申报—“上海市白玉兰人才计划” 在线办理--浦江项目 or with the link to enter the login page directly. Online project submissions will open on August 12, 2024 and close on September 15, 2024.

There would be two rounds of review: peer review and on-site review.
