About:
Under the agreement between NSFC and RS, the two sides will continue to fund joint projects for research collaboration in 2024. Please refer to the official announcement for more details.

Funding Areas:
Applicants may choose topics and conduct research in the following areas:

• Mathematics and Physics
• Chemistry
• Life Sciences
• Earth Sciences
• Engineering and Materials Science
• Information Science
• Medical Science

Please select the corresponding subordinate code for application code 1, and it is recommended to select to the last level.

Funding Amount & Period:
NSFC will provide up to 100,000 RMB per project, which will cover Chinese researchers’ travel expenses to the UK (economy class) and British researchers’ accommodation, food and inter-city transportation expenses in China. RS will provide up to 12,000 pounds per project, covering British researchers’ travel expenses to China and Chinese researchers’ accommodation, food and inter-city transportation expenses in the UK.

The funding period is two years, from Jan 1, 2025, to Dec 31, 2026.

Eligibility Requirements:

• The applicant from the Chinese institution must be the PI or participant of ongoing NSFC research projects that will be closed on or after December 31, 2025, with a duration of at least three years (except for cooperation and exchange programs), and their applications must rely on the projects;
• Research partners from the UK should meet the requirements given by RS;
• Applicants from China and the UK should submit their applications to NSFC and RS respectively;
• The two parties should sign an Exchange Program Agreement (see the template attached);
• This program falls into the category of International (Regional) Cooperation and Exchange Program but is NOT subject to the restriction that each applicant can only apply for one program in the same category in the same year;
• This program and other NSFC-RS programs are mutually exclusive;
