2024 Collaborative Research Projects Between the NSFC and the Dutch Research Council

Project Description:
- Funding area: “Cities Amidst Climate Change: Enhancing Physical and Social Resilience in Urban Areas (See Attachment Research Fields for details)
- Application code: For application code 1, select application code D01, D07, E08, E10, G0413. Applications with inaccurate or unselected choices will NOT be accepted.
- NSFC and NWO plan to fund no more than 4 projects. For each project, NSFC will provide funding no more than 3,000,000RMB, including research funding and international cooperation and exchange expenses; NWO will fund no more than 700,000 Euro.
- The funding period is 4 years, from January 1, 2026 - December 31, 2029.
Applicant Eligibility:
- Applicants from China (no requirement on nationality) must be a senior professional title holder (i.e., Tenure-track Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor), and must be leading or had led a three-year or above termed NSFC funded program.
- Dutch collaborators should meet NWO's eligibility requirements for domestic applicants and submit applications to NWO in accordance with the requirements. Applications submitted unilaterally will not be accepted.
- The Chinese team should include at least one domestic cooperative research unit, and the number of domestic cooperative research units should not exceed 2. The two parties have a good cooperation foundation, and the project application should reflect strong cooperation and complementary advantages.
- Applicants can only apply for one international (regional) cooperative research project in the same year.
- An applicant who is in charge of an international (regional) cooperative research project may not apply for this project as an applicant.
- The project will be counted as one of the two projects in total applied or led by the same PI.
