Research Grants Team

The Research Grants Office provides pre-award and non-financial post-award support to faculty in their pursuit of securing research funding. While the principal Investigator is the primary person responsible for all aspects of the research program, including preparation of grant materials, most awards are issued to the institution, not to the individual. Submitting proposals to external sponsors, public or private, is generally an institutional rather than an individual function. Therefore, proposals must undergo institutional review and approval before submission. If institutional review is not conducted for any proposals prior to the submission, the Research Grants Office reserves the right to withdraw any proposal that the Office deems in conflict with university or faculty interest, or any policies or procedures.

NYU Shanghai faculty and researchers should notify the Research Grants Office (at shanghai.researchgrants@nyu.edu) as early as possible when considering a grant application, regardless of their role in the proposal. Early communication helps ensure a timely and compliant submission process. The Research Grants Office requires at least five full business days to review a complete proposal. If you are unsure about any procedures, please contact us at shanghai.researchgrants@nyu.edu.
