For nearly two decades, Maya Kramer has created sculptures and installations that probe relations between humans, ‘landscape’, and ‘nature’ in the age of the Anthropocene.

In this talk, Professor Kramer will briefly introduce her past work and discuss her participation in the June 23’ Arctic Circle Residency – where professionals ranging from artists and musicians to political scientists and environmental historians were chosen to sail around the Arctic and conduct research for their projects. She will discuss takeaways from her time there and implications for her future work.

This event is open to the NYU Shanghai community. To attend the talk, please register in advance.

Professor Kramer’s excursion to the Arctic was supported by the NYU Shanghai Scholar Travel Fund, Shanghai Key Laboratory of Urban Design and Urban Science, and by NYU Shanghai’s Institute of Contemporary Art.
