Abstract:

With certain null conditions on nonlinearities, wave equations are wellposed globally in time for small initial data. Those significant and breakthrough results are obtained by several leading experts including Christodoulou, Klainerman and Alinhac before 2001. Around 2000, Agemi, Sideris were able to extend the above theory to 3D nonlinear elasticity which is a wave system with different speeds (then Sideris-Thomases also solved the 3D incompressible case). We will report our result on the 2D incompressible elasticity.
