About:

Under the agreement between NSFC and JSPS, the two sides will jointly fund researchers from China to attend the 18th Hope Meeting in Japan. Please refer to the official announcement for more details.

 

Funding Areas:

The 18th Hope meeting will be held in during Feb. 28, 2027 – Mar. 4, 2027. The areas include physics, chemistry, physiology and medical science. The details about the meeting can be found at: https://www.jsps.go.jp/english/e-hope/index.html

  • Physics: Application Code under A
  • Chemistry: Application code under B
  • Life Science: Application coder under C
  • Medical Science: Application code under H

 

Funding Amount & Period: up to RMB 20,000/project, up to 10 projects will be supported.  NSFC will provide the international travel costs (including visa fee, round-trip airfare in economy class, transportation fee, etc.), and JSPS will provide the local expenses in Japan, such as transportation, accommodation, meals, and insurance, etc.

 

Period: January 1, 2027 – December 31, 2027.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicant from the Chinese side must be a PI in an ongoing NSFC project with a duration of at least three years (exchange projects are excluded)
  • Applicant should either 1) be a doctoral student or 2) hold a doctoral degree obtained on or after April 2, 2021.
  • This program only supports the applicant him/herself to attend the meeting. No participants are allowed.
  • This program does NOT count as one of the two projects per NSFC's restriction on the allowed number of applications/projects by one PI
  • This program falls into the category of International (Regional) Collaboration and Exchange Program but is NOT subject to the restriction that one applicant can only apply for one program in the same category in the same year.
  • This program and other NSFC-JSPS programs are mutually exclusive. Applicant haven’t attended the Hope Meeting before.
