About:

The National Office for Education Sciences Planning is now calling for proposal for the 2026 Annual Program of National Education Research Planning Program.

The current call for proposal includes the following categories:

  • National Social Science Grant – Education Research:
    • Key Program
    • General Program
    • Young Scientist Program
  • MOE Education Research Grant:
    • Key Program
    • Young Scientist Program

Funding Areas: 

This program covers 19 disciplinary areas. Applicants should choose the areas that are closest to their proposed research.  Prioritized research areas and directions can be found in the attachment.

 

Funding Amount:

  • National Social Science Grant-Education Research Key Program: RMB 350,000/project
  • National Social Science Grant-Education Research General and Young Scientist Program: RMB 200,000/project
  • MOE Education Research Grant Key Program and Young Scientist Program: RMB 80,000/project

     

Project Period

The project should last no more than 5 years. The typical project duration is 3–5 years for basic theoretical research and 2–3 years for applied and policy-oriented research.

 

Eligibility:

  • Applicants should be Chinese citizens. Foreign researchers can join as the team members.
  • For National Social Science Grant Key Program and General Program: Applicants must have a professional technical title of associate senior level or above or a doctoral degree.
  • For Young Scientist Program: Male applicants must be no older than 35 (born after June 25, 1991), and female applicants must be no older than 40 (born after June 25, 1986).
  • Each applicant can only apply for one project, and cannot join other applications this year.
  • Applicants who have ongoing National Social Science Grant, National Natural Science Grant, MOE Humanities & Social Science Grant, and other national-level or MOE-level grant cannot apply for this program. Applicants who have applied for these programs this year cannot apply either.
  • Applicants whose proposed projects are substantially related to any national-level research projects they are currently undertaking or have previously completed must clearly explain in the application form how the proposed project differs from and relates to those projects.
  • Eligible postdoctoral researchers can apply.
