About:

In cooperation with international organizations and national research funding agencies, National Nature Science Foundation of China conducts joint funding to address key challenges to global sustainable development.

 

Funding Areas and Scale:

  1. Swedish Research Council (VR):
    Please refer to the program details here.
    • Areas: Establish multidisciplinary collaborative networks centered on disease prevention, with a focus on risk assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of major chronic diseases, aging, and multimorbidity from a whole-life health management perspective, including complex health challenges arising from interactions among humans, animal and plant systems, and related environments.
    • Exchange Project: support up to 10 projects. NSFC will provide no more than RMB 350,000 per project. VR will provide similar funding to their teams.
    • Period: 1/1/2027-12/31/2028
       
  2. International Bamboo and Rattan Organization (INBAR):
    Please refer to the program details here.
    • Areas:
      • Global Bamboo and Rattan Resources Survey (Application Code Under C03 or D01)
      • Efficient Utilization of Bamboo and Rattan Resources (Application Code under C16)
    • Conference Project: to host conferences in China. This round will support up to 2 projects, each with funding from NSFC for no more than RMB 100,000.
    • Period: 1/1/2027-12/31/2027

 

Eligibility:

  • Chinese applicants should be a PI or major participant of an ongoing NSFC grant project with a duration of at least three years (excluding collaboration and exchange projects), with an end date on or after 12/31/2027.
  • Foreign collaborators must meet the requirements of their respective funding agencies and international organizations (refer to specific program guidelines).
  • These projects are excluded from the "two-project limit" for researchers with senior professional technical positions (titles).
  • These projects are exempt from the "one application per project type per year" restriction.
  • An individual is limited to one SDIC project, whether currently applied for (as applicant) or ongoing (as PI). Projects concluding in the current application year are excluded from this count.
