Global NYU Postdoc Collaboration Grant AY 25-26

Description:

We are delighted to announce the Global NYU Postdoc Collaboration Grant AY 25-26 for NYU, NYU Abu Dhabi, NYU Shanghai, and NYU-KAIST Postdoctoral Fellows.

The program aims to facilitate the advancement of current research by leveraging the resources across NYU’s global network, and to foster research collaborations. The program will also offer professional development and networking opportunities with postdocs and other colleagues from New York, Abu Dhabi, Shanghai, and Daejeon.

 

What the Program Will Offer:

  • Short-term residency (three weeks) for a limited number of distinguished postdoctoral scholars from NYU, NYU Abu Dhabi, NYU Shanghai, and KAIST whose interest and expertise coincides with current research projects at collaborating labs at other portal campuses.
    • Residency at NYU New York, June 7th to June 27th, 2026: available for Postdoctoral scholars from NYU Abu Dhabi, NYU Shanghai, and KAIST;
    • Residency at NYU Abu Dhabi, April 13th to May 1st, 2026: available for Postdoctoral scholars from NYU, and NYU Shanghai;
    • Residency at NYU Shanghai: available for postdoctoral scholars from NYU, and NYU Abu Dhabi
  • A base award of $4,500* to support travel, accommodation, subsistence, and any other costs associated with this research visit. *NOTE: Home institution-specific adjustments to the base award may apply to account for cost-of-living differentials and tax liabilities.
  • Access to Housing in New York, Shanghai, or Abu Dhabi, at a reduced rate. *NOTE: Specific housing details will be communicated to applicants before the program.
  • Networking and career development opportunities with postdocs, faculty, and researchers at other campuses, and a chance to explore the respective city and surrounding areas with social events.

 

Eligibility:

To be eligible to apply to the Global NYU Postdoc Summer Program, you must:

  • Be currently employed and in good standing as Postdoctoral Fellow at your affiliated campus (NYU, NYU Abu Dhabi, NYU Shanghai, or KAIST) through at least the end of July 2026;
  • Not be on a leave of absence for any reasons;
  • Be able to participate fully in New York, Abu Dhabi, or Shanghai for the duration of the three-week program;
  • Be able to secure the appropriate visa;
  • Have adequate health insurance coverage for the duration of the program.

STEP ONE

The Global NYU Postdoc Collaboration Grant AY 25-26 welcomes postdocs interested in participating in the program to submit a Letter of Intent by November 3.

Your Letter of Intent must include:

  • Your full name and email address
  • Your home institution and department
  • The host institution you would like to visit (NYU-NYC, NYU Abu Dhabi, or NYU Shanghai)
  • The PI who you propose to work with and their department
  • Proposed project title (Details of your project may be changed after submission, but your proposed title should reflect your research area)
  • Your preferred program dates (three weeks), if you would like to visit NYU Shanghai

The Letter of Intent should be no longer than 1 page of A4 and should be submitted as a PDF. It should be submitted by November 3rd, 2025 (5pm EST Time).

STEP TWO

Following confirmation that your letter has passed review, you will be invited to submit your full proposal for The Global NYU Postdoc Collaboration Grant AY 25-26 consisting of the following documents by November 24Please follow these guidelines strictly:

  • Cover Letter explaining how the program would benefit your current or future research aspirations and goals - no longer than one (1) A4 page.
  • Up-to-Date Academic CV using this template - no longer than three (3) A4 pages.
  • Research Statement, that clearly states the goals of the residency - no longer than two (2) A4 pages. Within these two (2) A4 pages, you should include:
    • One-paragraph project summary
    • Requirements for laboratory equipment and space and other resources
    • How your research visit will contribute to the field
    • Realistic goals for the 3-week research period
    • How this collaboration visit will benefit future direction(s) of your research
  • A Support Letter from your PI/center director emphasizing your strength as a researcher and how the proposed visit will enhance your current research and build collaborations - no longer than one (1) A4 page
  • A Reference Letter from the PI/Department who will host you in New York/Abu Dhabi/Shanghai emphasizing how they will collaborate with you on your visit to and how their work aligns with your current research - no longer than one (1) A4 page.

Applicants should also confirm if there are any Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee or human subject research approvals required for the research that will be performed during the residency so that there is enough time for them to be approved. This should be included in your Research Statement Pages.

Please avoid jargon. Make sure that you describe your research in language that many people outside your specific subject area can understand.

Please combine your application documents in a single PDF file. The document should be no longer than Eight (8) A4 Pages in total.

DEADLINE

Your application should be submitted by November 24, 2025 (5pm EST Time).

 

Selection Criteria:

Your application will be reviewed by a joint committee based upon the following criteria:

  • Advancement of Individual’s Research
  • Research Collaboration
  • Current Scholarly Activities (i.e., Publications, Conferences, Teaching, Technique and Learning stated on their Academic CV)
  • Attainability of Goals during Research Period
  • Host and PI Support
