About:
The Xplorer Prize is a public welfare award funded by the New Cornerstone Science Foundation and led by scientists in selecting talent. It focuses on fundamental sciences and cutting-edge technologies, providing funding to young scientists. The award looks to the future, rewards potential, and encourages exploration.
Funding Fields and Scale:
2025 “Xplorer Prize” includes 10 funding fields: mathematical physics, new chemical materials, astronomy and earth sciences, and life sciences, medical science information electronics, energy and environmental protection, advanced manufacturing, transportation architecture, and cutting-edge interdisciplinary areas.
Every year this prize will support up to 50 candidates. Each awardee will be provided with RMB 3,000,000 for a duration of five years (RMB 600,000 per year).

Eligibility:
- Hold a doctoral degree
- Full-time employment in mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macao (no nationality restrictions).
- For applications submitted in the award year, male applicants must be aged 45 or younger as of January 1 (born on or after January 1, 1979), and female applicants must be aged 48 or younger (born on or after January 1, 1976).
The 2025 Xplorer Prize will provide one “Rising Star” quota in each funding field. Adhering to the principle of quality over quantity, this quota is intended to reward young scientists (male applicants aged 35 or younger, and female applicants aged 38 or younger).
Application:
1. Expert Nomination:
- Nominations must be initiated by invited individuals and include two recommenders with senior professional titles.
- Each nominator can propose one candidate per year, and the nomination is valid for three years.
- Nominees must submit their applications by April 15, 2025; recommenders must submit their letters by April 30, 2025.
- Applications will be disqualified if the required number of recommendation letters is not submitted.
2. Open Application:
- Anyone interested to apply for should complete the online application form through www.xplorerprize.org by April 15, 2025, and provide contact information of three recommendations (recommendation letters should be submitted by April 30, 2025).
- Applications will be disqualified if the required recommendation letters are not submitted.
