Leadership Changes Announced for Center for Computational Chemistry

The NYU-ECNU Center for Computational Chemistry at NYU Shanghai has announced two leadership changes this semester. Associate Professor of Chemistry William Glover is assuming the role of co-director, following several year’s service as associate director. Glover, the Center’s first tenured faculty member, will lead efforts to expand the Center’s strategic initiatives, with a particular focus on strengthening collaborations with affiliated institutes.

The Center’s founding director, Professor of Chemistry John Zhang will transition to a new role as director emeritus. Zhang played a pivotal role over the past decade, establishing the Center as a prominent platform for interdisciplinary research, collaboration, and scientific training. Under his leadership, the Center has grown into a distinctive institution, bringing together researchers from ECNU, NYU Shanghai, NYU, and NYU Abu Dhabi, resulting in internationally recognized contributions to computational chemistry. “These accomplishments represent John’s sustained dedication,” said Vice Provost for Research Anqi Qian. “We are pleased that he will continue to nurture collaboration between the different campuses in his new role.”

“It is my very great honor to serve as Co-Director of the NYU-ECNU Center for Computational Chemistry. The center was one of the key features that attracted me to be a faculty member at NYU Shanghai many years ago,” said Glover. “Few institutions can boast the quality and quantity of faculty and student members that we have – John has left very big boots to fill! I look forward to working with him to further develop the institute as a center of research excellence, talent recruitment, and student training.”
