In Memoriam: Professor Vladas Sidoravicius

In Memoriam

NYU Shanghai mourns the passing of Professor of Mathematics and NYU Global Network Professor Vladas Sidoravicius.  A native of Lithuania, Professor Sidoravicius joined NYU Shanghai in 2015 and served as the Institute’s co-Deputy Director since April 2016.

Professor Sidoravicius’s groundbreaking work in probability theory and statistical physics, among other subjects, brought together researchers from almost every continent. During his short tenure as the co-Deputy Director, Professor Sidoravicius built the institute into a highly recognized gathering place for cutting edge work in probability research. His scholarly rigor, passion for international collaboration, and warmth of character were great assets to the university community.  He will be sorely missed.  The university extends its deepest condolences to Professor Sidoravicius’s family and friends.
