The New York Times recently featured Paul Glimcher, collaborating faculty of the NYU-ECNU Institute of Brain and Cognitive Science at NYU Shanghai, for initiating and leading the Kavli Human Understanding through Measurement and Analysis (HUMAN) Project. Glimcher, who is also the Julius Silver Professor of Neural Science and a Professor of Economics and Psychology at NYU, is dedicated to the study of decision-making and laid the groundwork for the field of neuroeconomics.
The HUMAN Project directed by Glimcher is a giant longitudinal study to be participated by 10,000 New Yorkers in roughly 2,500 households for over two decades. By generating massive, interdisciplinary and secure datasets for researchers, it has great prospects of advancing the understanding of human behavior, creating" what will essentially become an atlas for the entire human experience,” and fostering evidence-based public policy making.
