Research Compliance Office (RCO) staff members are available to assist you with:
- Providing guidance for protocol submission requirements
- Coordinating protocol submissions and IRB reviews
The Human Subjects website is a good place to start for information about conducting human subjects research and applying for IRB review and other relevant processes. In addition, RCO offers consultation sessions for researchers to connect with our office for one-on-one advising.
Drop-In Consultation Hours
RCO provides one-on-one and small group consultations on Thursdays from 9:30am to 11:30am during the spring and fall terms. The consultation is provided virtually via Zoom or in-person (E809). No appointment is needed.
Please click this Zoom link during the drop-in hours to speak with us. RCO staff members will be available to answer your questions and/or discuss issues you may have in protocol development. Bring your questions and any prepared documents you wish to discuss. If you are unable to speak with us during drop-in hours, please schedule a consultation session via this link.
Please note that these consultations are only advisory in nature and do not take the place of a formal IRB review. You will still need to submit your application to the NYU Shanghai IRB for review.

A Note on External Requests to Engage NYU Shanghai Students
NYU Shanghai regularly receives requests from external researchers to conduct research on students. The RCO facilitates the review of such requests by following the Guidance for External Requests to Engage NYU Shanghai Students.
Please note that this process constitutes an administrative review, not an IRB review.
