In this VINS lecture series, Professor Christian Grewell will explore core concepts behind blockchains such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and their derivations both from the perspective of their use as financial instruments, stores of value and speculation, but more importantly, the value of immutable, programmable blockchains and how they might be used to improve qualities of life, increase transparency and promote ethical behaviors. 

 

Christian Grewell is a professor of Interactive Media Arts and Business at NYU Shanghai and the partner of their Program on Creativity and Innovation. Christian’s current research and projects involve the development of a course on blockchains and research into their use as a technology to create systems of equitable distributions of scare public resources. Christian lives in Shanghai, China and spends his time exploring the intersections of management, creativity, finance and technology. Christian has spent the past 16 years at NYU with a B.A in Economics and an MBA from the Stern School of Business.
