We will discuss recent results about the relationship between the limiting shape in first passage percolation and the structure of the infinite geodesics. We will present a solution to the midpoint problem of Benjamini, Kalai and Schramm. This is joint work with Gerandy Brito and Daniel Ahlberg.

Biography
Christopher Hoffman received his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his Ph.D. from Stanford University. He did postdocs at the Hebrew University and the University of Maryland. In 1999 he started as an Assistant Professor at the University of Washington where he is currently a Professor. He has worked in ergodic theory, combinatorics and probability.
