Lecture Speaker Biography:
Weibin Deng is an Executive Director and Business Manager at Global Markets with BNP Paribas (China) Limited, after working as APAC COO for Global Commodities Derivatives at BNP Paribas for 6 years in Singapore. He obtained his Master degree of Accounting from University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, US in Jul 2001. Before Weibin joined BNPP Singapore Branch in Nov 2009, he had successfully worked at Bank of America, Deloitte & Touche LLP, Credit Suisse and JP Morgan. Weibin has 15 years of experience at various functions including operations, product controls and business management with international banks in the commodity markets including oil, US gas and power, base and precious metals. He had contributed to BNP Paribas’s expansion to the physical base metal markets in APAC and its setup of a commodity trading arm in Shanghai Free Trade Zone over last years.
Lecture Introduction:
Weibin Deng will share his observations in the great cycle over the last decade along with the expansion and contraction of international banks in the global commodity markets. His presentation will discuss the past, present and future of commodity business models, functional setup and career outlook at International banks. With specific interests, Weibin would also offer his view on the China commodity market and its opportunities for both business and career.
