Jun Wen is Professor of Sociology and Social Work, Head of the Institute of Sociology, and Dean of School of Social Development at East China Normal University and Co-Director of the NYU-ECNU Institute for Social Development at NYU Shanghai.

His academic positions include: member of the Instruction and Curriculum Committee of Sociology at the Chinese Ministry of Education, member of the Expert Panel of National Urban-Rural Community Development at the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs, Advisory Board member of the Chinese Sociological Association, Vice President of the Shanghai Sociological Association, Advisory Board member of the China Association for Social Worker Education, and Vice President of the Shanghai Social Workers Association, among others.

Dr. Wen has visited several countries as a visiting scholar and visiting professor‚ including the United States‚ Canada, Japan‚ South Korea‚ Singapore‚ Australia‚ and France. Dr. Wen’s main research interests are in the areas of sociological theory, social work theory, urban sociology, social policy, and social development. He has published many influential scholarly works, including over 180 journal articles and 16 books. In 2004‚ he was selected as the first cohort of the New Century Excellent Talents Support Program by the Chinese Ministry of Education.
