Shaul Bar Lev is visiting professor of statistics at NYU Shanghai. He is also professor of statistics at the University of Haifa, Israel. Prior to joining NYU Shanghai, he was the former president of the Israel Statistical Association and dean of research at the University of Haifa
Professor Bar Lev’s research interests are mathematical statistics, statistical inference, asymptotic theory, characterizations, exponential families, variance functions, sampling, randomized response models, applied stochastic models, group testing, and marketing surveys.
Professor Bar Lev was awarded Fellow of the American Statistical Association for outstanding contributions to the statistical profession, for his contributions to statistical theory—especially on exponential families of distributions—and for work in effectively establishing statistical support and consulting activities. He is currently an associate editor for Mathematical Methods of Statistics and Advances and Applications in Statistics. Since 2004, Professor Bar Lev has been an Extramural Fellow of the CentER (Center for Economic Research) at the University of Tilburg, the Netherlands.
