Abstract:

The models of the statistical mechanics are the fruit of the researches into obtaining mathematical arguments to understand the macroscopic behavior of matter on the basis of its microscopic structure, such as the phenomenon of a phase transition. The first model, now called Ising model, was invented by Lenz and studied by his student, Ising. This model has absence of a phase transition at any temperature on the one-dimensional lattice, proved by Ising in 1922, and the presence of a phase transition at low temperature on the two or more dimensional lattice, proved by Peierls after 14 years. We are going to introduce the Ising model and present some classical results, as well as recent results when the model has presence of inhomogeneous external field.

Biography:

Eric Ossami Endo obtained Bachelor in Mathematics from University of São Paulo (2011), Master Degree in Mathematics from University of São Paulo under orientation by Prof. Y. Kohayakawa (2014), Ph.D. Degree in Applied Mathematics at University of São Paulo under orientation by R. Bissacot (2018) and in Mathematics at University of Groningen under orientation by A.C.D. van Enter and D. Valesin (2018).
