\sigma_k equations and Monge-Ampere equations have important applications in differential geometry and physics. In this talk, we present two local existence theorems and review the relevant history. This is joint work with Qing Han.

Biography
Tiancong Chen was a visiting assistant professor at University of California, Santa Barbara. He received is Ph. D. degree from University of Notre Dame in 2013. His research interest is nonlinear partial differential equations.
