Abstract:
In 2014, Hutchings found an embedding obstruction for embedding convex toric domains into convex toric domains coming from embedded contact homology that were different from the ECH capacities. Although this kind of obstructions can be finally interpreted in a combinatorial form, these obstructions come from the existence of an analytical object called J-holomorphic curve. In this talk we will discuss how these analytical objects provide very strong obstructions to the embedding of symplectic manifolds. We also briefly describe the analytic nature of J-holomorphic curves. This is joint work with Pedro Salomão.

Jonathan Trejos is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) in China, working under the supervision of Pedro Salomão. Before coming to joining SUSTech, he was a PhD student at IMPA under the supervision of Vinicius Ramos. His primary interest is symplectic topology, currently he is focusing on applications of embedded contact homology to embedding problems of toric domains.
