This talk will address the celebrated Ginzburg-Landau model of Type II superconductivity in the presence of external magnetic fields, which deals with the minimization of a non-linear functional. After presenting a short background on the Ginzburg-Landau model, I will discuss a class of functionals that arise as simplified models. The rest of the talk will be devoted to the applications on models of Type II superconductors and on the Landau-de Gennes model of liquid crystals.

Biography
I received my BS and MS in mathematics from the Lebanese University. In 2007,I received my Ph.D. degree in mathematics from the University of Paris-Sud. Since 2014, I am appointed Professor of Mathematics at the Lebanese University. My research interests fall in the field of partial differential equations and mathematical physics.
