L3,∞ Solutions of the Liquid Crystals System

We study the simplified system of the original Ericksen-Leslie equations for the flow of liquid crystals. It is shown that the L3,∞ solutions of the Cauchy problem for the three-dimensional incompressible liquid crystal system are smooth.

Xiangao Liu is a Professor of Mathematics at Fudan University. His research interests lie in partial differential equations (PDE).
