Abstract:  

We consider a biased random walk on dynamical percolation and discuss the existence and the properties of the linear speed as a function of the bias. In particular, we establish a simple criterion to decide whether the speed is increasing or decreasing for large bias. This talk is based on joint work with Sebastian Andres, Nina Gantert, and Perla Sousi.

Biography:  

Dominik Schmid is currently a PostDoc at the University of Bonn. In 2021, he completed his Ph.D. advised by Nina Gantert at the Technical University of Munich, where he also previously obtained his Bachelor's and Master's Degree. Following his doctoral studies, he held a postdoctoral position at Princeton University from October 2021 to September 2022. Schmid's research mainly focuses on probability theory, in particular mixing times for Markov chains, limit theorems for interacting particle systems, and stochastic processes in random media.
