On 18 April, sixty scholars including faculty, postdocs and graduate students with major in computational chemistry gathered at the NYU-ECNU Center for Computational Chemistry at NYU Shanghai for the 2015 Computational Chemistry Conference of Shanghai Universities, co-sponsored by the State Key Laboratory of Precision Spectroscopy at ECNU and the Departments of Chemistry and Physics at Fudan University. Professor Kangnian Fan from Fudan University gave an opening address to the attendees. He emphasized the particular importance of interactions among postdocs and graduate students who work on the front line. Professor Zhipan Liu and Professor John Zhang then kicked off the Conference.
Sixteen speakers presented at the Conference, most of whom are graduated students. Each presentation was followed by active discussion on scientific aspects of the topics.
The Conference is organized by Prof. Ye Mei, an affiliated faculty of the Center. Dr. Wenhui Xi of Fudan University and Dr. Tong Zhu of East China Normal University chaired morning and afternoon sessions respectively.
Professor John Zhang, Director of the NYU-ECNU Center for Computational Chemistry at NYU Shanghai, plans to hold the Conference on an annual basis and include more universities in Shanghai and nearby cities to enhance academic exchanges and research collaboration, which is consistent with the Center’s mission.
