Biomineralization is one of the most widespread phenomena in biological processes, which can facilitate to harden or stiffen existing tissues in living organism via forming minerals. The nucleation of minerals stays at the core position during mineralization. In this work, the molecular dynamics simulation approach was employed to tackle the nucleation process of hydroxyapatite in aqueous phase with the type-I collagen as the seed.
Prof. Dingguo Xu obtained his Ph.D. from Sichuan University in 2003, and then worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at University of New Mexico with Prof. Hua Guo. Now he is a full Professor at College of Chemistry, Sichuan University. His major research interests include theoretical investigations of enzymatic reactions, properties of biomaterials, interactions between materials and biomolecules.
