Xiaoming Zhou’s paper “Behavioral training reverses global cortical network dysfunction induced by perinatal antidepressant exposure” was published online in PNAS in February. This paper was the first to demonstrate that recovery of global brain function after behavioral training involves a substantial renormalization of neuro-modulatory systems.
“The finding that autism-like neurological distortions in the rodent brain can be reversed through simple forms of behavioral training is a sign of hope for those families with autistic children," said Zhou.
Professor Xiaoming Zhou is currently an associated member of the NYU-ECNU Institute of Brain and Cognitive Science at NYU Shanghai and Professor of Neurobiology, School of Life Sciences at East China Normal University.
