Speaker:
Ms. Annabelle kowk
Location:
Room 101, NYU Shanghai

Annabelle will be sharing her journey, experience in Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) consultancy, and what drives her to explore the technologies of the future.

Annabelle won her first robotics competition at 8 years old, for a robot that moved and drew a star. Before she turned 15, she had already marched for her nation in the National Day Parade, and represented her country again on a tsunami relief mission to Phuket, Thailand.

Annabelle was offered a full-time job even before entering university, and has worked with the CEO of a million-dollar Israeli social commerce company to provide them with market insights. She has also led an international team of consultants to develop the business model for a local startup (presently in talks of a high acquisition) and later joined a startup that raised $2million in Series A investment as their Chief Operating Partner.

At 20, she spent 6 weeks in Togo (West Africa) travelling between rural villages and cities, working with non-governmental organizations (NGOs). She spent 8 hours behind a live chicken on a jam-packed bus, balanced countless buckets of water on her head, and was robbed at knife-point. At 22, she met U.S. President Barack Obama.

Upon graduating university in Mathematics, she taught herself hardware & software engineering, winning prestigious Hackathons, mentoring others and working on TV projects with National Geographic & WWF. Also, Marina Bay Sands Art Science Museum sponsored her personal tech-project. All these were a hobby whilst she founded a new department for community growth at Shopee, an e-commerce startup by Garena, its $3.75 billion parent company.

At 25, Annabelle is currently working on her second A.I. company, NeuralBay. She does image and video analytics, focusing on detection and recognition software related to humans, objects and text, and offers complementary plug-and-play hardware for image capturing with edge processing. She was previously the founding CEO of SmartCow, a hardware company specialized in the deployment of A.I.

Annabelle has won international competitions by companies like Nvidia, does A.I. Consultancy for MNCs and governments, and sits on the selection committee for President’s Science Award in Singapore. She has been featured on both local and international media such as Channel NewsAsia, Yahoo! News, NVIDIA, and was listed by Tech In Asia as one of the five young Southeast Asian entrepreneurs to keep an eye on.

Come listen to Annabelle share her adventures through these seemingly unconnected topics to expedite her learning, and how they all helped her in her journey to build Singapore’s leading A.I. company.
